Service Terms — Bookings, Deposits & Workshop Work

Last updated: 6 May 2026

These terms apply when you book mechanical work, MOT preparation, custom exhaust fabrication, intercooler kits, fitting or any other workshop service with STR Performance Ltd ("we", "us"). They sit alongside our Website Terms & Conditions and our Refund & Returns Policy.

1. Booking a service

Bookings are made by email (info@str-performance.com) or via our website contact form. A booking is confirmed only when we reply confirming the date, time and price (or an estimate) in writing. Verbal bookings are not binding until confirmed in writing.

We will give you a written quote or estimate before work starts. If during the work we discover additional issues, we will contact you for approval before proceeding with extra work or charges.

2. Deposits

We require deposits for the following:

Deposits are taken to cover materials, parts ordered specifically for your job, and workshop time we set aside for you.

Deposit refunds

3. Cancellations and rescheduling

We understand things change. Please give us as much notice as possible.

If we have to cancel or reschedule (e.g. illness, parts delay), we'll give you as much notice as possible and offer the next available slot. Where we are at fault for a cancellation that causes you direct loss, we will refund any deposit and reasonable costs incurred — see liability limits in section 8.

4. Quality of work

All workshop services are carried out with reasonable care and skill, in line with section 49 of the Consumer Rights Act 2015. If anything we have fitted or worked on fails due to our workmanship, contact us within a reasonable period and we will repair, replace or refund as appropriate.

This guarantee covers our labour. Parts are covered by their manufacturer's warranty.

5. MOT preparation and booking

STR Performance Ltd is not itself a DVSA-approved MOT testing station. Our service in respect of MOTs covers:

The MOT test itself is conducted by the testing station, not by us. The result (pass or fail) is recorded directly on the DVSA database by the testing station. We have no ability to alter, refund or revoke an MOT test result and accept no responsibility for the result.

The MOT test fee is set by the testing station and is non-refundable once the test has commenced. We will tell you the test fee in advance. Our charges for pre-MOT inspection, remedial work and booking arrangement are quoted separately.

If your vehicle fails, the testing station will issue the VT30 refusal notice. We can quote separately for any remedial work and arrange the retest — you are under no obligation to use us for this work.

6. Customer-supplied parts

If you supply your own parts for us to fit:

7. Vehicle storage

Vehicles must be collected within 3 working days of work being completed and you being notified. Storage may be charged at £15 per day after that period. After 28 days we reserve the right to exercise a lien over the vehicle for unpaid charges, in accordance with the Torts (Interference with Goods) Act 1977.

8. Liability

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be limited by law.

Subject to the above, our total liability arising from any single booking is limited to the price you paid for that booking.

We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses (e.g. loss of use of the vehicle, alternative transport costs, loss of earnings) unless these were specifically agreed in writing before the work started.

9. Emissions equipment and off-road / motorsport parts

Emissions equipment — our policy. UK law (Road Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations 1986, regulation 61a) makes it an offence to use a vehicle on a public road that has had emissions control equipment tampered with, removed or disabled. This includes catalytic converters, DPF, EGR, AdBlue / SCR systems, lambda sensors and ECU mapping that disables any of the above. STR Performance Ltd will not knowingly fit, supply or remap a vehicle to remove or disable emissions control equipment where the vehicle is used on the UK public road. We may decline any job at our discretion.

Where you instruct us to fit, supply or remap any emissions-tampering or off-road-only part, you confirm in writing — and warrant — that the vehicle is used solely for off-road / motorsport competition, is being prepared for export and will not be used on UK public roads, or is being prepared as a non-road project / display vehicle that will not be driven on UK public roads.

It is the customer's responsibility to ensure any parts fitted to a road-going vehicle remain road-legal and MOT-compliant. We accept no liability whatsoever for fines, penalties, MOT failures, insurance claims or prosecutions arising from on-road use of any off-road or emissions-modified vehicle. Where we discover or reasonably suspect a job we have been asked to perform is in fact intended for on-road use, we will refuse the job and any deposit will be refunded less reasonable costs incurred.

10. Payment

Balance is due on completion of work, before the vehicle leaves the premises. We accept card payments via Stripe and bank transfer. Late payments accrue interest at 8% above the Bank of England base rate, in line with the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998 (where the customer is acting in business).
